💀 Creepy Poem October: Day 13 is here! 💀 EPITHALAMIUM: HERCULANO I had a hell of a time getting this video to be even close to 3 mins for the godforsaken algorithm— I wrote this one to challenge myself to write multi-page poems after my first book hinged on little 14-line sonnets, and its long! It’s part of my chapbook, EPITHALAMIA, which was published by @autumnhousepress ….right in time for the pandemic 😣 So, alas, it had very little time to meet readers. An epithalamium is traditionally a poem written to celebrate a wedding, so I pried that tradition open and explored our deepest long-term human connections through the lens of historical disasters lol 😝 EPITHALAMIUM: HERCULANO considers the remains of two unlikely victims of the eruption of Mount Vesuvius over 2000 years ago, and asks what’s important when the world ends. If you want to see the 6 minute version of this video where I talk about how I still play @duolingo with @gerry.lafemina , who selected EPITHALAMIA for the Autumn House Chapbook Prize, head over to my Substack! #linkinbio #creepypoems #spookyseason
