Dinner at Uchi DC 🍣✨ Finally made it to Uchi DC for dinner! There were definitely some standouts throughout the night, along with a few dishes that didn’t quite hit the mark for me. 🍵 Hot Jasmine Green Tea (8) 🥤Diet Coca Cola 🥃 Kenja Old Fashioned (16.50) - wild turkey rye, montenegro, jasmine bitters 🦀 Soft Shell Crab Maki (18.50) — pickled cucumber, cilantro, avocado & soy aioli. I loved the tangy kick, but unfortunately the soft shell crab was soggy and wasn’t very crispy. 🎃 Kabocha (11.50) — Japanese pumpkin tempura. 🍤 Ebi ($11.50) — Shrimp tempura. Similar to the soft shell crab, this came out soggy and lacked the crispiness I was hoping for. 🍄 Kinoko Nabe ($25.50) — Seasonal mushrooms, tentsuyu, Koshihikari rice & egg yolk. We added the Gyutoro (+$8), and this upgrade was absolutely worth it! 🙌 One of the highlights of dinner. 🍗 Sasami Yaki ($18.50) — Chicken with coconut milk & cilantro. The chicken was incredibly tender and flavorful, making this another standout of the meal! And of course, we had to end with dessert! 🍨 🥛 Fried Milk ($16.50) — milk chocolate mousse, dulcey cake & sweet cream ice cream. 🖤 Seasonal Sundae ($12) — Black sesame ice cream, blackberry compote & passion fruit foam. I loved the black sesame ice cream on its own, but personally didn’t feel like the fruity flavors complemented it as well as I’d hoped. Overall, the Kinoko Nabe with Gyutoro was the star of the night for me. 🍄🥩 The tender and flavorful Sasami Yaki was another favorite! While I wish the tempura dishes had arrived crispier, I’m glad we got to experience a variety of Uchi DC’s menu. 📍 Uchi DC | Washington, DC What’s your must-order at Uchi? 👇 #UchiDC #JapaneseFood #DCFoodie #DCDining #DCEats
