A tornado struck Requínoa in Chile's central O'Higgins region on Monday (26 October), damaging around 70 homes and a local school. Fallen utility poles and power lines cut electricity to roughly 3,000 people, and one minor injury was reported. Chile's disaster service declared a red alert for the area. Search and rescue teams were deployed, and crews are clearing debris from blocked roads. Tornadoes are uncommon in Chile, but when they do occur, they’re most often seen in the south-central part of the country. They usually happen between May and August, during Chile’s cooler autumn and winter months, with May and June being the most active period. #Chile #Tornado #Requínoa #BBCWeather
