Keys, wallet... passport? From today, anyone travelling between the UK and Ireland by ferry will need to show their passport. Passengers used to be able to use other forms of ID, but the changes are being brought in to comply with UK Border Force rules. This is despite the UK and Republic of Ireland being part of the Common Travel Area (CTA) which allows for passport-free travel by its citizens. Ferry operator Irish Ferries said the new requirement applies to their Dublin to Holyhead and Rosslare to Pembroke routes, in both directions.
