"It's all very well having this flashy report, but it's useless if they don't put that into practice." Young people who have struggled with their mental health have told the BBC it is important that the government acts on the findings of a review that says that there had been a real rise in mental distress among children and young people. Its author Prof Peter Fonagy said that it was "harder to be young" now given the economic and employment uncertainty young people face, coupled with the challenges presented by social media. A review was ordered nine months ago by Wes Streeting after the then-health secretary claimed in an interview that young people were over-diagnosed and "written off".
