Leroy Douglas's family says his prison sentence came as a "huge shock" and that it has felt like "he's here but he's not" in their lives. Leroy was just 24 when he was jailed for stealing a mobile phone in 2005, but more than 20 years later, he is still locked up. He had a drug addiction and a string of convictions for offences including petty crimes and shoplifting before being convicted of robbery and given an indeterminate sentence of imprisonment for public protection (IPP). He is set to be released in October at the age of 45, having spent almost as long in prison as one of Wales' most notorious murderers. The decision came weeks before Prime Minister Andy Burnham announced he would end IPPs before the end of this parliament. 📸 Leroy Douglas
