A BBC investigation has found criminal groups who illegally smuggle people to the UK across the English Channel are running low on small boats. Gang members have told BBC sources that rival factions are now having to work together to load migrants on fewer, larger vessels. They’re also charging them more. The number of crossings is currently at a six-year-low and UK ministers have credited the French police for intercepting more attempts.
