Since the early 2020s, claims of Christians in Nigeria’s Middle Belt being deliberately targeted in attacks have been gaining traction on social media. BBC Africa Eye has gone to the region to hear from people on the ground, including both Christian and Muslim communities, and also Muslim herders who all say they have been victims of violence. The Nigerian government has previously rejected claims Christians were being targeted in attacks, saying that both Muslim and Christian communities have been affected by insecurity in the country.
