People keep telling me you can’t actually learn Spanish with @duolingo . So instead of arguing about it, I’m going to test it. For the next three months, I’m committing to at least 20 minutes of Duolingo every day while living here in Spain. The goal isn’t to rack up XP or protect a streak. I want to see whether I can become meaningfully more conversational. Can I handle normal daily interactions in Spanish? Can I understand someone without immediately reaching for a translator? And eventually, can I sit down with a native Spanish speaker and have a completely unscripted conversation where they actually understand me? To be fair, this isn’t a perfectly isolated experiment. I live in Spain, so I’m surrounded by Spanish every day. But Duolingo will be my primary tool for intentionally learning new vocabulary, and I’m going to test myself in the real world along the way. I already know a bunch of people are going to tell me this won’t work. That’s kind of why I want to find out. Day 1 starts now. 🇪🇸 #LearnSpanish #Duolingo #LifeInSpain #LanguageLearning
