How many pizzas can you buy with just 1 BTC today? In May 2010, programmer Laszlo Hanyecz became the first person to use Bitcoin for a real-world purchase, paying 10,000 BTC for two pizzas. At the time, this amount was worth approximately $41. The transaction was arranged through the Bitcointalk forum, where Hanyecz offered to pay for pizza with cryptocurrency, and another user ordered and delivered it. This event became a landmark moment in cryptocurrency history, demonstrating the potential of Bitcoin as a medium of exchange, and has since been celebrated annually as Bitcoin Pizza Day.
