Hurricane Simon forecast to bring catastrophic winds and life-threatening flooding to western Mexico. The strengthening storm is expected to make landfall as a highly dangerous category 4 storm near the border of Colima and Jalisco states on Sunday. Sustained winds of around 150mph (240km/h) are possible around the eye of the storm, with stronger gusts. As much as 750mm (30in) of rain could fall in the mountains as the storm tracks northwards, leading to extensive flooding and mudslides. Simon is the latest in a very active season of storms in the Pacific due to the ongoing El Niño weather conditions. #HurricaneSimon #ElNino #MexicoWeather #Storms
