A tornado has torn through the village of Pomas in south-west France, injuring dozens of people and damaging hundreds of homes. More than 120 emergency workers were deployed to the village south of Carcassonne and one resident said “half the village has been destroyed”. Winds may have reached more than 200km/h (124mph), according to an expert from the country’s forecaster Météo-France.
